AmericInn hosts first Iowa hotel electric car charging station

8 Jan, 2010 Hotel and Motel Management

The U.S. hotel chain AmericInn Nov. 12 opened a public electric vehicle charging station at its property in Elk Horn, Iowa. Located off of Interstate 80 between Omaha and Des Moines, this AmericInn location is the first hotel in Iowa to host a public charging station.

The station allows customers to swipe a keyfob and then plug-in and charge their electric vehicles. Users may locate the charging station and even determine whether or not it is currently occupied using Google maps.

"AmericInn is thrilled to be home to one of the first electric vehicle recharging stations in Iowa," said Lisa Riggs, AmericInn Lodge & Suites co-owner. "We believe the station exemplifies the lengths we will go to meet the convenience and comfort needs of our guests."
