Avani Hotels & Resorts, Groupe Chabaane partner for North Africa debut

Minor Hotels' Avani Hotels & Resorts brand has teamed up with Groupe Chaabane to debut in North Africa with two new properties in Tunisia. North Africa's first two Avani properties will be Avani Les Berges Du Lac Tunis Suites and Avani Gammarth Tunis Resort & Spa.

Scheduled to open in the coming months, Avani Les Berges Du Lac Tunis Suites will be in Les Berges du Lac II, a commercial, residential and diplomatic area in the Tunisian Capital. The 41-key property will have serviced apartment accommodation options ranging from studios to three-bedroom apartments and lofts, meeting the corporate and extended-stay demand.

In addition, Avani Gammarth Tunis Resort & Spa, which is currently in its design phase, is expected to open in 2021 and will have 250 guestrooms in a beachfront location. Close to Tunis Airport and the city center, Gammarth is a coastal resort area of Tunis, meeting the leisure, government, corporate and MICE demand. The new resort will be part of a larger development that will include retail and entertainment zones. Meanwhile, the new hotel will have 232 guestrooms and 18 private beach villas.

Launched by Minor Hotels in 2011, Avani Hotels & Resorts currently has 18 properties in operation in Thailand, Sri Lanka, Vietnam, Malaysia, the Seychelles, Mozambique, Botswana, Lesotho, Namibia, Zambia and the UAE, with the brand most recently launching in Europe in the Portuguese capital of Lisbon.
