obrArchitecture to turn historic barracks at Liberty Station into hotel

Historic barracks at Liberty Station in Point Loma in San Diego will be transformed into a 90-room boutique hotel. The Barracks Hotel will involve restoring eight of the 10 remaining buildings, which are nearly 100 years old and slated for historic preservation within the Liberty Station neighborhood.

Construction on four barracks buildings—three officer’s quarters and a former steam pump house—will begin in mid-2017, with a projected completion date in late 2018. The specialty hotel will be co-owned and operated by Untitled Hospitality.

Corky McMillin Companies is the developer, while Chris Bittner of obrArchitecture will spearhead the property’s design and construction.

The hotel project will cost over $20 million.
