W to debut in Marbella, Spain

The W brand is headed for the beaches of Marbella. Marriott has announced a deal with Sunrise Inversiones 2015 S.L, an affiliate of Platinum Estates Limited, for the W Marbella and The Residences at W Marbella. The hotel is scheduled to open in 2021 and will be located on the beach at Playa Real de Zaragoza, a short drive from downtown Marbella.

Platinum Estates is a boutique real estate private equity and investment management company based in Hong Kong. Its main focus, according to its website, is the UK and Spain.

When it opens, W Marbella will the brand's third hotel in Spain, accompanying W Barcelona and W Madrid, expected to open in June 2019 and also being developed by Platinum Estates.
 
The hotel will have 200 guestrooms, including 26 suites, an AWAY spa, FIT state-of-the-art workout facility; and two WET pool decks. W Marbella will also have five meeting rooms along with a covered terrace, measuring more than 10,000 square feet. 
 
W Marbella will also have a Beach Club with of the Mediterranean Sea. The Beach Club at W Marbella will open in advance of the hotel in time for the Summer 2018 season.
 
The Residences at W Marbella will have 100 low-rise, condominium apartments and villas available for purchase.

W now has around 50 hotels worldwide with a growth target of 75 hotels by 2020.
