How do you define universal design?
17 Mar, 2010 By: Mary Malloy Hotel DesignHere at Hotel Design we have been discussing the concept of universal design a lot, and debating some of the principles. It’s definitely a hot topic, and it’s one you will be hearing more about in the coming weeks. Last month we introduced our new, upcoming educational summit, titled Transform, which will take place July 13-14, and will focus on universal design. The April issue of the magazine will feature a product showcase on universal design products and trends and strategies for designers.
So with that in mind, I ask you what universal design means to you. How do you define this concept? What does universal design cover—is it products, room layout, architecture?
Send me an e-mail and let me know your thoughts or your definition and I’ll include your responses in my April column.
