Insolito Brings Brazilian Culture to its Design

24 May, 2011

Insolito Boutique Hotel - Design Hotels

Insolito Boutique Hotel, a coastal resort in Buzios, Brazil, is providing guests the opportunity to learn more about Brazilian culture through its new restaurant, guest rooms, and Parilla, a barbeque from Rio Plata.

The new restaurant, which serves Franco-Brazilian cuisine, emulates a cultural and sophisticated ambiance within two distinct spaces, both outside and in.

Outside, the lounge dining area is situated on the swimming pool deck overlooking the sea, while the inside dining atmosphere is made up of one large room and a wall of blue tiles hand-painted by Laura Tayes, founder and director of The Tile Workshop.

The kitchen area is framed by a vertical garden produced by São Paulo company Quadro Vivo and designed by architect Luis Fernando Grabowsky. The restaurant is complete with furnishings from the 1960s by designer Jorge Zalszupin and with lighting by Maneco Quinderé.

The new Parilla, fueled by a mixture of firewood and coal, is situated in the beach lounge restaurant. The open barbeque ‘kitchen’ provides an open and interactive dining experience. Guests can learn and taste about the distinct native flavors while sitting only a short distance from the beach.

The Insolito Boutique Hotel now has 20 themed guest rooms based around Brazilian history.

The nine new spaces, which are located in a new house connected to the main building and include two superior rooms, four luxury rooms and three master suites, are designed around Brazilian Modernism.

Along with furniture from Jorge Zalszupin and photography of modernist architecture and the human body by Almire Reis, this theme is achieved through books, furniture, paintings and photographs.
