Resort owner and operator Playa Hotels & Resorts has promoted Howard Tanenbaum to senior vice president of sales.
In his new role, Tanenbaum will continue to assist in expanding Playa’s global sales divisions. He will oversee all sales efforts for Playa’s Hyatt Zilara and Hyatt Ziva Resorts, Panama Jack Resorts in Cancun & Playa del Carmen, the Royal in Playa del Carmen and the Sanctuary in the Dominican Republic along with leisure travel and the meetings & incentive business at these hotels.

The promotion follows Playa’s plans to expand in Jamaica through its acquisition of a Hilton resort and four Jewel brand resorts from Sagicor Group Jamaica in February 2018. The new additions boosts Playa’s portfolio in Jamaica to include seven properties.
As part of Playa’s expansion plans, the company launched its new hotel brand Panama Jack Resorts last year. Playa redeveloped and rebranded the Gran Caribe Resort in Cancun and Gran Porto Resort in Playa del Carmen as Panama Jack properties.
Playa owns and/or manages 15 resorts with 6,314 guestrooms in Mexico, Jamaica and the Dominican Republic. The group owns and manages Hyatt Zilara Cancun, Hyatt Ziva Cancun, Panama Jack Resorts Cancun, Panama Jack Resorts Playa del Carmen, The Royal Playa del Carmen, Hyatt Ziva Puerto Vallarta and Hyatt Ziva Los Cabos in Mexico, along with the Hyatt Zilara Rose Hall and Hyatt Ziva Rose Hall in Jamaica. Playa also owns five resorts in Mexico and the Dominican Republic that are managed by a third party, while the group manages the Sanctuary Cap Cana in the Dominican Republic.
