Gatehouse Capital opens Home2 Suites at Baylor University's Medical Center

Dallas-based Gatehouse Capital opened its newest hotel today, Home2 Suites by Hilton on the campus of Baylor University Medical Center at Dallas. The medical center is part of Baylor Scott & White Health, and the property consists of 132 suites located at 3301 Gaston Avenue, located directly across from the flagship hospital.

“The Home2 Suites by Hilton is a great example of a successful collaboration between Gatehouse and a healthcare system,” Marty Collins, CEO of Gatehouse Capital, said in a statement. “This property fills a need for the hospital and local community and will be the gold standard for other hospital campuses across the country. It has been a great experience working with Baylor University Medical Center to bring this hotel to Dallas.”

Developed and owned by Gatehouse Capital and managed by Aimbridge Hospitality, the $21 million Home2 Suites by Hilton sits at the corner of Gaston Avenue and Hall Street and solidifies the redevelopment of the area. The land is owned by Baylor Health Care System and has been leased to Gatehouse Capital.

“The Home2 Suites is one of the fastest growing brands of Hilton,” Collins said in a statement. “This hotel is an all-suite, extended-stay product. The staff at this property is trained to handle the special circumstances of guests who may be dealing with a family health crisis.”

The hotel’s all-suite accommodations include fully equipped kitchens and modular furniture, offering guests flexibility in their needs and preferences. Amenities such as complimentary internet and a combined laundry and fitness area (Spin2 Cycle), a mini-market for grab-and-go items and complimentary breakfast make life just a little easier for guests. A “Dallas Green” eco-sustainable property, Home2 Suites offers 5,000 square feet of meeting and event space accommodating up to 350 guests. The outdoor saline pool overlooks the Dallas skyline and is a pet-friendly facility.

Gatehouse has three separate hotel development platforms: hotels on large hospital campuses, public/private hotel-conference centers and luxury lifestyle hotels. Earlier this year, Gatehouse Capital broke ground on a seven-story, 218-room Marriott Hotel & Conference Center in Odessa, Texas; last year they began development on the new Virgin Hotel Dallas in the Design District; and began a four-story Fairfield Inn and Suites in Decatur, Texas.

Founded in 1997, Gatehouse Capital is a national real estate investment and development firm that has launched major mixed-use lifestyle developments, including hotels in the Hilton, Marriott, Hyatt and Virgin, and other brand families totaling more than $1 billion in completed development.
