Yellow Springs, Ohio, gets a new hotel

The Mills Park Hotel opened in Yellow Springs, Ohio.

The 28-room hotel is the largest property of its kind in the village. It has 24,000 square feet of space, and in addition to its guestrooms it includes extended-stay suites, an exercise facility, a conference room and a banquet room designed for up to 150 people, a restaurant and a retail store.

“We haven’t had a very large place for people to stay,” said Karen Wintrow, executive of the Yellow Spring Chamber of Commerce. “It’s not just about tourism … It gives our business community to have a beautiful location for their board members, their employees and visiting folks a place to stay.”

Jim Hammond, a co-owner of the hotel, purchased the property in 2012 and planned to open it in June 2015. However, issues with the building's code delayed the opening until now. Hammond will operate the hotel, while is wife Libby will assist with general management of the property and their daughter, Katie, will manage the restaurant.

“It’s been a long, drawn-out process,” Hammond said in a statement. “We just want to get it open and start serving guests.”
