The Hotel Group completes multimillion-dollar update of Kansas City Marriott

Hotel management and ownership company The Hotel Group celebrated the completion of the multimillion-dollar renovation of its Marriott in Kansas City, Mo., located at 775 Brasilia Ave.  

“We are excited to officially open our doors and welcome the community to our new Marriott Kansas City Airport,” Douglas Dreher, president and CEO of The Hotel Group, said in a statement. “Our recent renovation has not only transformed our property, yet reimagined it. This is the largest renovation in our company history and the thoughtful and innovative updates will allow us to maximize the hotels airport location while enhancing our guest’s overall experience.” 

THG’s multimillion-dollar renovation includes upgrading all guestrooms and suites with 55-inch flat-panel TVs, specially designed work desks, luxurious bedding, hard surface flooring, updated bathrooms with a barn door and modified storage option in an open closet area. The updated M Club located on the lobby level offers guests space to work, recharge, connect and relax while being able to enjoy a snack.

Exclusively at the newly updated Marriott, KC tap+table restaurant has partnered with locally sourced Kansas City flavors and house-made ingredients to provide patrons with the freshest products and ingredients. Guest will enjoy seasonal outdoor seating overlooking the Berlin Reservoir from the 70-seat lounge and 64-seat restaurant showcasing a double-sided 12 beer tap tower featuring locally crafted ales along with wines and spirits. The restaurant includes a 46-seat elevated and lower level outdoor patio dining area with a fire pit.

THG kicked off its renovation celebration on April 11 with a ribbon cutting ceremony and travel themed entertainment from around the world, followed by tours of the 381-room property. More than 600 guests mixed and mingled at the celebration, which included opening remarks by Dreher. THG’s founders Edmond and Barbara Lee were joined by Dreher and wife, Maria; Randy Meyer, THG’s CFO; Robert Avila, SVP; Theresa Benson, corporate marketing director; Jim Wynn, GM of the Marriott Kansas City Airport; Carolyn McClure, director of sales; and several other key people for a ceremonial ribbon cutting.  

“Our neighbors and friends in the localbusiness communityhave been verysupportive throughout the renovation, and are delighted to seea fresh, fully transformed full-service hotel,” Wynn said in a statement. “Our loyal guests and local community, visiting for the first time since the completion of our renovation, were in absolute awe of the lobby renovation which showcases our incredible lake view and soaked in the newly refreshed rooms and amenities.” 

The Marriott KCI is located minutes away from the Kansas Speedway, Nebraska Furniture Mart, Kauffman Stadium home of the Kansas City Royals and Arrowhead Stadium home of the Kansas City Chiefs. The 381-room, full-service property includes more than 14,000 square feet of meeting space, including 21 meeting rooms ideal for business gatherings, social events or weddings. It is the only hotel located on airport grounds, 20 minutes from downtown Kansas City and has access to shopping and dining.
