Disney resort retools minibar concept

16 Jul, 2010 Hotel and Motel Management

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla.--The Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Resort has introduced a program that offers its guests a new level of value and choice for in-room snacks and beverages. The Personal Pantry was designed to replace the traditional hotel mini-bar concept with a practical and affordable program that guests can use while on vacation.

Guests custom order the snack and drink items they would like stocked in their in-room mini-fridge at check-in or through room-service anytime during their stay, 24-hours a day. The items are then delivered and stocked in their room with no delivery or service charge.

Every room includes a Personal Pantry menu featuring popular items such as cereals, chips, pretzels, cookies, milk, a variety of beverages and more at prices competitive with those of convenient stores. Guests no longer have to make the choice between purchasing high costs snacks and drinks traditionally found in a hotel mini-bar or taking time to grocery shop during their vacation.

“We’ve started a program that provides our guests with the value they’re looking for while traveling,” said Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Resort general manager Paul Scott. “They requested personalization and convenience at a fair price, and the Personal Pantry provides just that. To date, the response has been very positive.”
