Star City Hotel & Casino installs Control4
16 Sep, 2011
Control4 brings standards-based automation and energy management to the guestroom experience at Star City Hotel & Casino located on Sydney Harbour in Australia.
Star City operates 200 gaming tables and includes a 480-room hotel, a 2000-seat theater, six restaurants and eight bars. It’s about the size of seven football fields and is a key part of the city’s vibrant Darling Harbour precinct. Star City hired Suite Control, a custom installation firm dedicated to bringing IP-based automation and control to homes, businesses and hotels, to integrate the Control4 Hospitality solution with on-screen control of the television, IBAHN Video-on-Demand system, lighting and temperature into 176 new luxury suites.
In new guest suites, the system includes in-room control via a Control4 SC200 and H150 remote, with Philips Dynalite lighting control system, a Control4 wireless thermostat, Samsung LED 3D TV, Bose Cinemate music system, room signage by Access Industries and guest connectivity via Guestlink Powerwave. Star City has built new Signature Penthouses on Level 12 that add bathroom TVs with Control4 on-screen control and luxury media rooms complete with advanced Karaoke consoles, controlled via Control4 touch screens. The Casino has added seven new high-end VIP gaming areas each equipped with an Control4 SC200, Control4 7” Touch screen, Control4 iPod dock, Samsung LED TVs and the iBAHN Video-On Demand system.
Leaving nothing to chance, Suite Control has programmed efficiency into the comfort of the guest experience. The suites all feature a button labeled "Leaving Room" by the entry door that automatically places the suite in an energy saving mode: In a single touch, it closes blinds, turns off lights and dials back air conditioners for energy savings. Should a guest not press this on their way out the room, the system will sense no occupancy after 30-minutes and activate the button automatically. Upon guest return the room will greet them by opening curtains, turning on the lights and displaying a welcome message. “Door Ajar” and “Privacy” notification pops up on the TV to assist guests in knowing their safety and privacy needs are met.
"This project really highlights the range of functions and flexibility that the Control4 hospitality solution brings to hotel properties,” stated Paul Williams, Vice President of Hospitality for Control4. “Star City and Suite Control did a fantastic job of prioritizing the needs of casino guests and designing a system that gave these high rollers the same experience wherever they go in the resort. Enhancing the guest experience, that’s our mission.”
