InterContinental Buckhead Atlanta installs InvoTech linen tracking system
5 Mar, 2013
The InterContinental Buckhead Atlanta installed InvoTech's UHF-RFID Linen System to reduce labor costs and track daily movement of linen items at the property. The T-Y Group provided 20,500 linen items pre-tagged with durable UHF-RFID laundry tags. InvoTech’s system monitors the location of each tagged linen piece to cut lost-item cost and minimize handling.
InvoTech’s expertise in complete UHF-RFID system integration delivers 100% control of linen inventory, 100% protection of non-theft related losses, and 50% reduction in labor.
“InvoTech enables us to track all linen items as they go to and from our laundry service without manually counting the inventory. The system lowers labor costs by managing inventory productivity which makes our operation much more efficient,” said Drew Sheth, Housekeeping Manager at the InterContinental Buckhead Atlanta. “We may have 10,000 pieces of linen that are sent to our laundry service on any given day. InvoTech’s system is extremely accurate and ensures the laundry service returns all items.” Sheth noted the system automatically emails reports of all shipped linen items that make it simple to audit the property’s laundry invoice.
InvoTech Vice President Jeff Welles, said, “Our Linen System at the InterContinental Buckhead Atlanta includes a UHF-RFID Laundry Cart Reading Station. We also installed multiple UHF-RFID antennas to process entire laundry carts of soiled linens going to the laundry and clean linens returned. A UHF-RFID Linen Inventory Reading Station is used to add new linen inventory and delete overused or damaged linens from the system. InvoTech coordinated the system implementation with T-Y Group who provided the hotel will all new pre-tagged linens. This enabled the hotel to use the system and obtain its benefits immediately. We added and inventoried 20,500 linen items to the system’s database in less than two days without even having to open a box. The linen items were identified on the outside of the box, and the UHF-RFID antennas read the pre-tagged linens right through the box to save time.”
InvoTech’s system at the InterContinental Buckhead Atlanta includes a UHF-RFID Portable Handheld Reader that communicates via Wi-Fi as it makes daily linen storeroom counts to simplify monthly physical inventory. The system reduces losses, purchase expenses, and cuts manual labor. InvoTech also provides more accurate budgets, linen replacement forecasts, and maintains quality standards because it records the number of times each item is washed.
“T-Y Group manufactures quality linens for hotels. We installed UHF-RFID tags in all the InterContinental Buckhead Atlanta’s linens before shipping to the hotel to simplify their operation,” said Daniel Tuaty, president and CEO of T-Y Group. “We save hotels money when we install tags in linens during manufacturing. The tags are invisible to the guests and durable. They outlast the sheets and towels, themselves. We worked with InvoTech to develop this service for the InterContinental Buckhead Atlanta and will offer it to all hotels in the future.”
