The Hospitality Sustainable Purchasing Consortium welcomes new members

16 Aug, 2011

The Hospitality Sustainable Purchasing Consortium welcomes two new members, Dallas-based Quiltcraft Industries and Miami-based Majestic Mirror and Frame.

The Hospitality Sustainable Purchasing Consortium, created and led by MindClick SGM, is working collaboratively to develop an industry wide Hospitality Sustainable Purchasing Index (HSPI). HSPI will help hotel owners purchase products that both reduce their properties’ environmental impact, and contribute to guest comfort, health and well-being.

Consortium members are customizing MindClick SGM’s Sustainability Performance Index to establish sustainability performance criteria for the Hospitality Industry. The HSPI will measure corporate social responsibility, environmental and product sustainability. Product categories covered include furnishings, fixtures and equipment (FF&E), and operating supplies and equipment (OS&E).

“Our newest members come from two very different product categories, demonstrating that sustainable FF&E purchasing provides many opportunities to positively impact the guest experience, and improve brand perception,” said JoAnna Abrams, chief executive officer of MindClick SGM.

Quiltcraft Industries is a leading source to national companies that need furnishings ranging from draperies and cubical curtains to roller shades and wall upholstery. Combining manufacturing expertise and service, Quiltcraft provides a single point of contact from the initial stages of product development and specification writing to the final stages of installation and delivery.

“We see sustainability as an important component of our quality, service and commitment to the hospitality industry. Participating in the Consortium will help us understand how to best align our sustainability efforts with the needs of our customers. We look forward to helping in the development of this sustainable measurement framework for FF&E purchasing” said David Pearson, Vice President of Quiltcraft Industries.

Majestic Mirror and Frame produces mirrors and decorative frames for hotels and retail furniture stores. Each piece is carefully designed, assembled and hand-finished with attention to detail. The company supplies global customers through its facilities in North America, Europe and the Middle East.

“Our company strives toward green practices in manufacturing and shipping products. We’re happy to be part of this group and look forward to building performance standards for the hospitality industry,” said Adam Jaffe, Executive Vice President of Majestic Mirror and Frame.

The two companies join existing Consortium members Marriott International, Audit Logistics, Benjamin West, Contract Decor International, Delta Faucet Company, Innvision, InterfaceFLOR, PE INTERNATIONAL Inc., RTKL, SERA Architects, and Valley Forge Fabrics.

Additional participants in the categories of bedding, carpeting, case goods, faucets, seating and more are in the process of joining the Consortium.
