Malaysia’s YTL Hotels acquires fifth UK hotel

Malaysia’s YTL Hotels has acquired its fifth property in the UK. The Threadneedles Hotel is also YTL’s second Autograph Collection hotel in the country.

In October, YTL Hotels acquired three properties in Edinburgh, Berkshire and London, bringing the company’s global portfolio up to a total of 29 hotels, resorts and experiences.

YTL Hotels now has four properties under Marriott International’s Autograph Collection, following The Glasshouse in Edinburgh, The Majestic Hotel Kuala Lumpur and Hotel Stripes Kuala Lumpur, slated to launch this month.

Threadneedles is housed in a Victorian building, originally used as a banking hall, which became a luxury 74-room hotel in 2002.

The boutique hotel retains the building’s period features, such as its original 19th-century stained glass dome and ornate wrought-iron window grilles. Threadneedles is in walking distance to the Bank of England, the old Royal Exchange, St. Paul’s Cathedral, the Tate Modern Museum and Tower Bridge.
