Shattered appearance: Ceci lamp by Sander Mulder

Inspired by Magritte’s famous artwork, this high-powered LED pendant lamp appears to be broken.

Sander Mulder in Eindhoven, The Netherlands, has launched the Ceci lamp, inspired by the artwork of Belgian painter René Magritte—who once painted a pipe with the caption "Ceci n'est pas une pipe." (This is not a pipe.)

As such, the high-powered LED pendant lamp appears to be a broken lightbulb, and the company is promoting it with a tagline evoking the artist's original statement: "Ceci ne'st pas une lampe." (This—Ceci—is not a lamp.)

The pendant is available with dimmer, and comes in multiple shapes, all of which highlight the “shattered” bottom. The light is the shade with Ceci, as its bulb-shaped design houses a hidden LED.
