Unexpected possibilities: Werkstätte series by AJK Design Studio

Oakland, Calif.-based AJK Design Studio has launched the Werkstätte series of modernist metalworks.

Introduced by Annie Kantor, former head of contract textiles at Maharam and now principal of AJK Design Studio, the Werkstätte series includes three complementary patterns that pay homage to Josef Hoffman and Koloman Moser’s Wiener Werkstätte.  This is available in a range of metals, finishes and powder-coat hues, with customizable proportion, repeat scale or color palette.

The patterns, including “Bildmarke,” “Stempel” and “Stilkunst,” are customizable and may be specified in brushed or polished stainless steel; brushed or polished aluminum; brushed or polished brass; oil rubbed bronze, or powder coated steel (any of 13 standard colors, a universe of custom colors, or primed for paint-to-match). Scale of patterns, and scale of repeat, are also variable. All three patterns may be backlit.
