Toronto-based furniture manufacturer Nienkämper launched the Perplex bench, a seating solution created by local industrial design group Fig40. The bench is defined by a minimalist, gently sloped shape that can add sculptural flare to a variety of commercial, hospitality and residential spaces. The resilient bench is made of Ductal, or ultra-high performance fiber reinforced concrete, and cast aluminum components used in the automotive industry, making it suitable for both indoor and outdoor applications. Besides providing an aesthetic appeal, the aforementioned slope also functions as a clever design element that prevents water from pooling on the bench if used in outdoor locations.
