Mamounia Lounge in Mayfair in central London has reopened its doors to a new space that is said to transform the heart of Mayfair into a Middle Eastern world, even as Aedas Interiors pays homage to an already established clientele by creating a traditional and spiced-color palette on modern furniture and fittings.
Completely redesigned, the space consists of 200 square meters (2,153 square feet) over two floors. The refurbishment included the ground floor and basement bars and restaurants, WCs and outdoor terrace area, as well as a complete overhaul of the kitchens.
The ground floor features a centralized feature bar with soft zonal seating and modern furnishings, with a paneled, églomisé mirrored ceiling creating a sense of volume by way of reflections and redirect light. The space also benefits from the relocation of the original dark narrow stairs that were transformed into a feature staircase, borrowing light from the full height glazing to the external elevation.
Meanwhile, downstairs, timber floors are elevated upwards to provide the wall cladding behind banquette seating and handmade crystal chandeliers, complimenting copper-covered walls and traditional Middle Eastern plaster work.
