Radisson Blu Liuzhou Hotel in China launched the Scoozi Italian Restaurant and Twenty-six Bar Lounge, perched atop the property to offer exclusive panoramic views of Liuzhou city.
Aedas Interiors was specifically brought in by hotel operator Carlson Rezidor to design a 9,000-square-foot high-end restaurant and bar lounge. The design brief specified that the 26th floor is to have a look and feel that should be entirely distinct from the rest of the hotel. As such, the designers – Greg Farrell, executive director, and Katie Yeung, associate at Aedas Interiors – designed a space to convey sophisticated luxury combined with a hint of drama.
The guest experience begins with the dimmed elevator lobby complete with back-lit abacus-inspired panels. Velvet curtains then reveal a sky-lit atrium lobby waiting area. This space is lined on either side by full length wine displays, accentuating the double-volume high space to create a visual display. A beaded tent dropped from the atrium skylight ceiling is anchored by chandeliers hanging over a four-poster day bed with throw cushions in a central Bedouin setting. Entrances on opposite sides of the atrium lobby space extend into Scoozi Restaurant or Twenty-Six Bar.
Natural light floods the dining rooms of Scoozi Restaurant during the day; in the evening the restaurant is altered into an intimate setting. Pale Staturio stone flooring are contrasted by areas of dark wood plank floors. The color palette for Scoozi was deliberately lightened to accentuate the bright dining room setting. Gold-leaf picture-less frames hang over velvet curtain-lined walls, adorning the space with a sense of luxury. Select window ledges are lined with wooden art frames, mirroring the gold-leaf frames scattered throughout the restaurant.
Twenty-Six, bar lounge is said to present a moodier personality; the palette contains royal blue, dark timber and carpet flooring creating an ideal lounge ambiance for evening drinks. Backlit gold-leaf art frames decorate the velvet curtain-lined walls, mirroring those in Scoozi. There are discretely placed flat screen TV throughout the bar area. The lounge is furnished with armchairs, seating and cushions, dimly lit by the candle-light fireplace and the back-lit onyx bar.
