Anantara grows Middle Eastern portfolio

Eastern Mangroves Hotel & Spa has opened as Anantara’s newest retreat in the Middle East. The 222-room property, Anantara’s third in the UAE, is located in Abu Dhabi city along a 1.2 km stretch of protected mangrove reserve, and is part of an integrated marina, retail and residential destination.

Designed to protect and enhance the natural mangrove setting, the property boasts of Arabic architectural heritage, expressed in archways, mashrabiyas, intricate mosaics, solid timber and trellis work, as well as subtle touches of 18 carat gold. Highlighting the Emirati influences is the falconer at the lobby, an offering of local dates and traditional local coffee, as well as scents wafting from a burning bakhour.

Spread over five levels, 222 guest rooms and suites are triple glazed for a peaceful stay, and are designed to reflect the region’s “regal opulence”.

The Royal Mangroves Residence is one of the largest suites in the UAE, suited to dignitaries and VIPs as it boasts up to 10 bedrooms, a private 10-meter (32 foot) rooftop pool with a swim-up bar, its own dedicated entrance and access to a limousine service, private chef, butler and a massage and beauty therapist.


The meeting and banqueting facilities have been designed with the business community in mind. With a separate, dedicated entrance, the 560 square meter (over 6,027 square foot) Mangroves Ballroom accommodates up to 550 guests for a reception, or 320 for a gala dinner. It can be used in its entirety or divided into three separate sections.

The five Tides meeting rooms are suited to groups of various sizes and range from 30 square meters (322 square feet) to 55 square meters (592 square feet). Meetings and events are planned and organized in a dedicated Events Planning Suite, while additional requirements are met by the Business Centre.

Eastern Mangroves Hotel & Spa by Anantara also has a pool.

There are five restaurants and bars, including the signature restaurant Pachaylen, which offers Thai cuisine, and Ingredients, the all-day dining venue. The rooftop lounge, Impressions, is a nightlife destination.

The Anantara Spa is designed with separate lobby entrances for men and women, 10 single and double treatment suites, a traditional Turkish hammam with two private scrub rooms, three Vichy shower rooms, an LPG room for lipomassage and endermologie, as well as a hair and beauty salon. The spa is home to one of the largest Turkish hammams in the UAE, which is overseen by a third generation Turkish “tellak”. In addition, also offered are yoga and pilates classes; and two gyms, with one reserved exclusively for ladies.
