Atlanta Marriott Marquis completes $138M transformation

ATLANTA, Ga., March 25, 2008 – Atlanta's largest hotel, Atlanta Marriott Marquis, located in the heart of Peachtree Center is well connected, revitalized and transformed on nearly every level…to the sweet sound of $138 million.

"The transformation is amazing combining a modern décor that is aesthetically very pleasing, with a noticeably high-tech feel," stated Lee Blankenship, senior meeting specialist at Willis Global Events Team (GET). The Nashville, TN based organization held a 700 member meeting at the venue in January 2008 and according to Blankenship, "The Atlanta Marriott Marquis exceeded our expectations on every level and in the hugely competitive market of Greater Atlanta - Marriott Marquis will always be our top choice."

This premier meeting destination is home to more than 160,000 square-feet of versatile meeting space, and the world's largest atrium, soaring 47-stories, complimented by 1,663 exquisitely designed guest rooms and 94 spectacular suites. Planners will discover that every inch of existing space was masterfully redefined to accommodate 21st century meeting needs.  Sixty-one meeting rooms are strategically clustered in 11 dedicated meeting zones, offering optimum versatility and privacy for several groups to conduct business concurrently. The 42,818 square-feet of additional meeting space now available on the Atrium Level includes the new 25,000 square-foot Atrium Ballroom opening July 2008, with floor to ceiling windows and 30-foot ceilings, accommodating 2,000 comfortably for a one-of-a-kind experience.

"This is a momentous time in our hotels' history," stated Michael Fletcher, director of sales at the Atlanta Marriott Marquis. "We now have the ability to comfortably accommodate two self contained meetings of 800 each simultaneously or one large meeting of 1600 rooms and take full advantage of our new additional Atrium Level Ballroom and breakout space."  The impressive 7,800 square-foot Skyline Level (10th Floor) overlooking the Atrium can also accommodate 1,100 for a reception, while providing easy access to the newly added 12 meeting suites located on Level 9 and 11.  If that's not enough, the hotel's Marquis Level is the site of the 22,273 square-foot Marquis Ballroom and the 13,343 square-foot Imperial Ballroom.

Throughout this landmark venue, guests will experience the idyllic flavor of modern chic masterfully combined with timeless comfort, beginning with the breathtaking atrium, designed by world-renowned and Atlanta based famed architect, John Portman. A lively nexus of activity, it boasts a vibrant network of diverse and outstanding food and beverage venues, including, Pulse…the heart-stopping new cocktail lounge; Sear, the signature, fire-inspired restaurant; and High Velocity, a sprawling sports bar, ranked as one of Atlanta's largest.

All guestrooms and suites are well connected on all levels and wrapped in luxurious comfort from head to toe. High-speed Internet access and efficiency-minded workstations grace the rooms alongside Marriott's new Revive Bedding, while floor-to-ceiling windows provide spectacular views of the city. The expansive pool deck, home to the newly renovated 60,000-gallon indoor and outdoor swimming pool with hot tub, private cabanas and retractable roof offering panoramic views of the Atlanta skyline, can accommodate up to 100.  Be sure to check-out the recently transformed 6,500-square-foot Health Club and Spa as well.
