Chicago Hyatt Regency to renovate

Chicago -- Hyatt Regency McCormick Place, 2233 S. Martin L. King Drive, will complete an $1.8 million renovation in February of 2009, announced General Manager George Vizer.

The renovation focus will be on the main ballroom, pre-function space, second and third floor corridors, board rooms and meeting suites as well as the recently completed, state of the art business center.

"Hyatt Regency McCormick Place plays a key role in all of Chicago's top meetings and conventions every year given our proximity to one of the nation's largest convention venues, McCormick Place," said Director of Sales Michael Panko. "It is very important that we stay on top of all of the trends when updating our meeting spaces as well as equipment."

The state-of-the-art business center, which was unveiled earlier this year, was brought from the back of the house to the public space main lobby foyer. The twenty-four-hour-access facility offers full service copying, printing and sign making and internet access stations.

The total renovation of the Hyatt Regency McCormick Place's grand ballroom will include new paint, wall covering and fabric wall panels. The lighting will be replaced as well as the carpeting. The front doors and hardware will also be replaced. The renovation of the pre-function space includes new carpet, cladding of the columns, new furniture and the construction of a meeting planner office as well as coat check.

Renovation of the second and third floor corridors will include carpet, new lighting in the elevator lobbies, new lighting and wall covering on the stairwell and public area furniture.The two Boardrooms on the second floor will receive new carpet, wall covering, lighting, wood border flooring, new board tables and chairs and permanently installed buffets in the rear of the room with refrigeration. A new, state of the art audio visual package will include a large, flat panel television integrated into jacks installed in the new board table. The newly renovated meeting suites on the third floor will include carpet, wall covering, isolation of the kitchen from the meeting space, as well as an updated bathroom in each suite.

Hyatt Regency McCormick Place recently earned the prestigious honor of being promoted to AAA Four Diamond status.
