Cleveland Marriott Downtown unveils renovation

CLEVELAND (March 18, 2008) - The Cleveland Marriott Downtown at Key Center, rated the number one hotel in Cleveland by Tripadvisor.com, unveils its complete event space renovation this month. The $2.5 million renovation, created by local design firm Vocon and Higley Construction, encompasses all 17,000 square feet of total meeting space with elegant touches including imported chandeliers, locally commissioned artwork highlighting the city and custom-designed carpets.

The event space renovation completes the transformation of the 400-room downtown Cleveland hotel, which had already introduced a cutting-edge $10 million hotel guest room renovation recently and was the first in the Marriott chain to receive the 'New Look and Feel' of Marriott now.

"We are excited about our partnership with talented local artists to enhance the renovation," said Bob Megazzini, General Manager, "Works by Stephen Pentak, Kathleen Hammett and Carl Krabill are proudly displayed and capture the natural beauty of Cleveland, Lake Erie and its tributaries. But, none of this would be possible without the vision of our owners, The R.E. Jacobs Group and Wells Real Estate Trust."

The event space transformation will be celebrated when the hotel hosts the 3rd annual 'Pajama Jam' gala on April 12th. Proceeds from this event support Junior Achievement of Greater Cleveland. The event, held in the hotel's Grand Ballroom, features an evening of creative culinary cuisine prepared by Executive Chef Christopher Borsi, dancing and an exciting silent auction with must-have items. Pajama Jam is open to the public. A special overnight $150 package includes entry tickets, after-hours party and breakfast for two the following morning. Event only tickets are also available for $50 for 2 people. Reservations can be made online at www.jacleveland.org/pajamajam.htm

"Pajama Jam is always an exciting event for us,' notes Chris Tageson, Director of Sales and Marketing. "With everyone dressed in tasteful pajamas, Marriott's luxurious bedding showcased throughout the ballroom, and incredible food and beverage, it's a truly memorable experience and a great charitable event."

Overlooking Lake Erie and downtown Cleveland, the Cleveland Marriott Downtown captivates the senses of travelers from around the globe as the hotel was recently honored with a Best Values 2008 award and ranked #57 in the world by Budget Travel. The 25-story hotel showcases over 17,000 square-feet of meeting space with high-speed Internet and full audiovisual capabilities including 19 meeting rooms. All 400 guest rooms feature flat-screen TVs, luxurious bedding, and wireless high-speed Internet access.

The Cleveland Marriott Downtown, along with all Marriott hotels nationwide, participates in the Marriott Rewarding Events program, which allows meeting planners to earn Marriott Rewards points for every meeting or event hosted at a Marriott International hotel.
