Concrete Architectural Associates designs interiors of W Hotel in Verbier, Switzerland

Starwood Hotels has announced the opening of W Hotel Verbier, W Hotel’s first alpine and ski location in Verbier, Switzerland.  Verbier is a village located in south-western Switzerland in the canton of Valais and a ski area in the Swiss Alps.

The interiors were designed by Concrete Architectural Associates.

Concrete Architectural Associates’ design was said to have been inspired by the carving of skis through snow, while also bringing a distinct New York City glamor to the ski resort in the Swiss Alps.  The firm used interiors elements that complement and contrast the scenery around the hotel.  Design features include smooth lines that carve through the spaces, said to be reflective of the movement derived directly from the tracks left by the activities in the mountains of Verbier.  Meanwhile, the Verbier mountains were brought into the hotel by reinterpreting local elements in a contemporary way, juxtaposed with the international appeal of New York.

W Hotel Verbier is owned by Les Trois Rocs. The hotel is situated at the foot of the slopes next to the Médran gondola and directly on the newly developed Place Blanche.

Featuring four traditional wooden chalet-style buildings, interconnected by contemporary glass atriums, the retreat offers immediate ski-in, ski-out access to the alpine action.

The W Hotel flaunts a mix of modern and rustic décor elements, and every one of its rooms has balconies that ensure views of the surrounding environment. There are a total of 130 rooms.

For events, the property has three meeting spaces, with largest meeting space measuring 1,722 square feet (160 square meters).

There is also a gondola located near the hotel.
