Crowne Plaza Duqm opens in Oman

IHG (InterContinental Hotels Group) opened the Crowne Plaza Duqm in Oman. The new hotel joins IHG’s three existing Crowne Plaza hotels in Oman’s major cities – Muscat, Sohar and Salalah – as well as the InterContinental Muscat.

The beachfront hotel is located near the port and dry dock at Duqm. With the launch of activity at Duqm Commercial Port and the expected opening of Duqm International Airport in 2014, the hotel is expected to capture the growing corporate travel market.

Crowne Plaza Duqm has 213 rooms, including 21 suites, all offering direct sea views. The property’s other facilities include: an outdoor pool area, a fitness center, and five restaurants and lounges.

In addition to the hotel’s leisure facilities, Crowne Plaza Duqm offers business and meeting facilities, including a 8,395 square foot Event Center, which includes two ballrooms and one boardroom. The Event Centre also comprises a business center and four separate meeting rooms.

For dining, Crowne Plaza Duqm presents Souq, its all-day-dining restaurant; Frontier, which caters to the sports fans; Al Safi, which treats guests to a seafood dining experience; and Splash, the poolside snack bar.

Ali Salih serves as the GM of Crowne Plaza Duqm.

IHG opened InterContinental Muscat in 1997, the city’s first five-star hotel. The group also now operates four Crowne Plaza hotels in Duqm, Muscat, Sohar and Salalah, with InterContinental Muscat Hills and Holiday Inn Muscat Airport in the development pipeline.
