Damask imagery: Rorschach tile collection by Timorous Beasties

Glasgow-based Timorous Beasties launched the Rorschach tile collection designed by Paul Simmons and Alistair McAuley for clé.  The collection is comprised of five designs, and hand lithographed on 12-by-12-inch limestone or thassos marble tiles. Inspired by traditional damask motifs (which originated in the 9th century), Timorous Beasties integrated the classic pattern with Rorschach conceptual imagery. For this collection, Simmons and McAuley used hand drawing, marbling and puddles of ink to achieve the damask imagery.
