David Collins Studio, Dernier & Hamlyn tapped for One Canada Square

One Canada Square opened as a new European restaurant and cocktail bar in the 50-story One Canada Square building in the heart of Canary Wharf in London. The venue, which is operated by ETM Group, has interiors by design firm David Collins Studio and lighting produced by Dernier & Hamlyn.

David Collins’ design concept was said to take the existing fabric of the building and combine its use of austere marble for the post-industrial designs of the early 1990s with a softer dining aesthetic complemented by classic brassiere details. This is to ensure that the stature of the original lobby – particularly its use of Rosso Levanto and Verde Imperial marble – was used to enhance the dining experience.

For the lighting, this resulted in Dernier & Hamlyn manufacturing polished chrome chandeliers with weighty circular glass panels underneath. Each fitting is over two meters in circumference and has 15 LED lamps.
