Dawson Design Associates designs interiors of Hotel Sorella Country Club Plaza

Interior design firm Dawson Design Associates was commissioned by Hotel Sorella Country Club Plaza in Kansas City, Mo., to create a space that exudes the feel of a Mediterranean villa. In a fusion of old and new, Hotel Sorella Country Club Plaza takes a cosmopolitan approach in this latest addition to Kansas City’s Country Club Plaza shopping and entertainment district, which was inspired by the architecture of Seville, Spain. Hotel Sorella (Italian for “sister”) is positioned as the “precocious sibling” to Valencia Group’s Hotel Valencia brand.

DDA approached the design of Hotel Sorella by creating a story and narrative for Sorella. The design goal is to visually engage every guest, creating an experience and interaction with the hotel that is said to be both intimate and personal. As guests enter the hotel’s lobby, they will experience a contemporary modern twist of blown Venetian glass chandeliers, custom marble tile mosaics inset into white marble floors, hand carved wood paneling and Renaissance inspired paintings.

Guestrooms continue the story of the Hotel Sorella and its sense of refined style. The 132 rooms and suites have hardwoods transitioning from entry to the bed, and shades of blue, white and charcoal surrounding the headboard tapestry. The white on white guest bathrooms of Carrera marble accented by sleek mirrored stainless steel accents take backstage to the oversized walk in shower with rain-forest shower head.

The property has a rooftop area inspired by the hill towns of Italy, boasting views from above. A mural is being commissioned to span 100 feet across the room. It will be a tribute to the Palio di Siena.

The property also offers six private meeting rooms, with approximately 4,800 square feet of meeting space; 4,000 square feet of flexible space in the restaurant and bar area; as well as a pre-function space, situated just off the lobby. These venues also have neutral color scheme and contemporary design.

The rooftop pool is accented with lighting, cabanas and fire. Live music is being offered.
