Design Details Emerge for W St. Petersburg

Russia's hotel scene just keeps getting better: W Hotels Worldwide has unveiled its new design concept for its first W Hotel in the country: the new W St. Petersburg. Owned by Real Estate Development Ltd., W St. Petersburg is designed by Milan-based Antonio Citterio and Patricia Viel Partners, who drew inspiration from the architectural ancestry of the city and jewel-tones of the famous Faberge Egg. The design inspiration and concept was revealed at a press conference in Milan with Citterio and Eva Ziegler, Global Brand Leader for W Hotels Worldwide.
Antonio Citterio and Patricia Viel Partners focused on color, light, texture and comfort to bring the vibrance and glamour of the city’s iconic architecture and brilliant colors inside the hotel.

"The hotel facade was made of two types of stone—with German Jura Marble and the limestone. The stylistics of the facade follows the architectural rhythm of the historical part of the city. The architecture design smoothly combined historical elements with the newest trends, bringing up the modern twist," said Dmitry Vorobyev, ownership representative and General Manager of the Real Estate Development Ltd. He entrusted the architectural part of the project to the St. Petersburg based architect bureau Grigoryev and Partners and Antonio Citterio Patricia Viel Partners has beenselected to create design for interiors.
Better yet, the hotel will open on April 20, just in time for the city's popular White Nights Festival. The hotel’s location, just steps from St. Isaac Cathedral, is also close to the city’s hot spots including restaurants, lounges and nightclubs and is within walking distance to the main attractions in the downtown.

The new W St. Petersburg will have 137 rooms including 10 suites and one Extreme WOW Suite (W’s take on the traditional Presidential Suite). The hotel will also feature the signature restaurant miX in St. Petersburg inspired by Alain Ducasse, miXup bar and terrace, a BLISS Spa with indoor pool and a fully-powered SWEAT Fitness Center with Technogym exercise equipment, designed by Antonio Citterio.
