Calistoga, California -- In 2008 Mark Wilkinson and Carolynne Wilkinson Clair, co-owners of the world-famous Dr. Wilkinson's Hot Springs Resort in Calistoga, California, completed a major renovation of The Resort's Victorian House.
The charming five bedroom Victorian now serves as one of the four lodging options at the historic hot springs and mud bath getaway. A grand home at the front of the property, it faces Calistoga's picturesque main street, which is lined with shops, tasting rooms, and restaurants.
Dr. Wilkinson's is now offering guests the opportunity to stay in what Mark refers to as "The Grand Lady of the property" at a special rate, which includes 2 free mud baths in the Dr. Wilkinson's bathhouse.
Dr. Wilkinson's has dubbed the off-season mid week package Victorian Valhalla. According to Mark, the heavenly getaway offers guests the chance to elevate their spirits during this time when every one needs a lift. "The Victorian's accommodations are luxurious and mud baths do help steep stress away," he claims. "They are warm, silky and soothing." Victorian Valhalla is offered Sunday through Thursday, double occupancy, for $279 plus tax, through April 30.
"Our mission during the renovation was to preserve the special charm that has defined Dr. Wilkinson's Hot Springs Resort since its founding 57 years ago, while providing our guests with contemporary electronics and connectivity - from flat-panel TV's and wireless Internet access to iPod docking stations," explains Carolynne.
Choices for lodging at Dr. Wilkinson's Hot Springs Resort, in addition to The Victorian, include bungalows and guest rooms in the mid-century modern resort's original building, currently scheduled for renovation in 2009. Guests have access to three thermal pools: an enormous 80 degree pool, a large 90 degree pool, and an 102 degree indoor pool, a gigantic "hot tub," perfect for a soak or swim the year round.
Dr. Wilkinson's also offers accommodations at the nearby Hideaway Cottages, 17 charming cottages with kitchens secluded in a private setting with convenient access to its own mineral pool and hot tub. Guests at Dr. Wilkinson's, The Victorian and Hideaway Cottages have access to spa treatments at Dr. Wilkinson's bathhouse.
Dr. Wilkinson's Hot Springs Resort is a wine country landmark, one of Calistoga's oldest spas, and the only local facility that still operates under founding family ownership. Today the resort's original neon sign, erected in 1952, still glows outside Dr. Wilkinson's Hot Springs Resort, an ongoing tribute to the "Dean of Calistoga's Spas." The "mud bath movement," made famous by the late Dr. John Wilkinson more than one half century ago, has never been more popular than it is today
