East, Hong Kong upgraded, installs Apple TVs in guestrooms

East, Hong Kong upgraded its rooms, and now offering Apple TV in addition to the communications and technology already in place, such as high-definition LCD TVs with a choice of satellite and cable channels, the iPod touch for hotel information, connectivity for laptops and complimentary Wi-Fi Internet throughout for business travelers.

East, Hong Kong is positioned as one of the lifestyle business hotels in Hong Kong. This integration of technology is eyed to help support efficiency and ensure a more comfortable stay for business travellers.

Using an iTunes account, guests can access movies and TV shows, iTunes Radio, Internet radio local to their home country, connect to MLB.TV for sports, WSJ Live for latest news, and YouTube for shared videos. Apple TV’s Airplay feature also allows guests to play videos, view photos and enjoy music from any iOS device, on their 37-inch LCD in-room TV.

Swire Hotels has been created to manage intriguing urban hotels in Hong Kong, Mainland China and the UK. The Opposite House, Beijing, opened in 2008 and was followed by The Upper House, above Pacific Place, Hong Kong, in October 2009.  The Temple House will open in Q4, 2014 in Chengdu.

Swire Hotels opened a 345-room lifestyle business hotel called East, Hong Kong in Hong Kong’s Island East, in January 2010. East, Beijing has 369 rooms, and is located within Indigo in Jiangtai, opened in September 2012. East, Miami, offering 263 rooms and 89 serviced apartments, will open in Brickell City Centre in 2015.

Swire Hotels launched a new collection of locally inspired hotels in the heart of British towns and cities called Chapter Hotels. The first hotel in the collection, The Montpellier Chapter, Cheltenham opened in 2010. The second hotel, The Magdalen Chapter, Exeter opened in June 2012.

Swire Island East is Hong Kong’s largest privately owned commercial development, comprising retail and office spaces of Cityplaza and TaiKoo Place, solely managed by Swire Properties. Following the completion of One Island East, the portfolio now offers approximately 9.76 million square feet of commercial space and hotel accommodation for local and multinational corporations.
