Expounded version: Twiggy floor lamp by Foscarini

Lighting brand Foscarini launched a special edition release of Marc Sadler’s Twiggy floor lamp. Continuing the monochromatic theme of the original piece (first released in 2006), the Twiggy limited edition adds seven new colors. The original Twiggy was named after Lesley Lawson, an international model and fashion icon of the 1960s. Sadler’s lamp uses a counter-weight principal to balance the shade and the ultra-thin disc-shaped base. A long stem connects the two, said to resemble a tree branch.

New colors for the limited edition Twiggy include light blue, green, orange, yellow, red, purple and petrol. Users may choose between LEDs, traditional incandescent and halogen formats.

Foscarini debuted in 1983 with designs by Carlo Urbinati and Alessandro Vecchiato. Thirty-some years later, the company expanded its international presence by opening new showrooms in Milan and New York.
