The Falls Resort and Golf Course to begin revitalization

Under the recently restructured ownership by Houston-based Breakaway Development and the Swalm Foundation and new golf course management by Troon Golf, The Falls Resort and Golf Club has begun extensive revitalization.

Located a little over one hour west of Houston in New Ulm at the gateway to the Texas Hill Country, The Falls is a gated residential community and resort with the region’s only award-winning 18-hole golf course rated four and a half stars by Golf Digest.

The Falls was developed in the mid 1980s by Houstonian Charles Swalm. The development includes the Cascades, a fine dining restaurant; a hotel; meeting spaces; single-family homes surrounded by pine forests and hills; villas for lease for a golf or Hill Country getaway; four lighted tennis courts; two swimming pools with a children’s wading pool; and a one-acre fishing pond. Noted golf figures Dave Marr and Jay Riviere designed the golf course, which is open to the public.

Memorial Development is serving as the project developer and WilsonMiller Stantec is the landscape architect/land planner. Among the first expansion projects underway are a one and a half acre water park featuring a splash pad with water toys and eight of a planned 150 condominiums for vacation ownership. Renovation projects include a new main entrance, a fitness center, golf pro shop, club house, villas and hotel rooms and a new concierge area for club members. Ninety-eight of the original 200 residential lots are available for sale, with expansion potential of more than 350 additional residential lots.
