Frank Whittle Partnership designs Blackpool’s seafront hotel

Frank Whittle Partnership (FWP) unveiled plans to create a new 96-key hotel on Blackpool’s Golden Mile. The investment to convert and extend The Sands Entertainment Venue near the resort’s tower is the brainchild of businessman Peter Swann.

Created by the architecture and design team at the FWP, the new development will be situated on Blackpool’s promenade. The hotel will have penthouse suites with views of the Prom and the Irish Sea. New retail units and public realm space will be incorporated into the design.

According to Seb Salisbury, architect at FWP, the hotel’s design is influenced by the heritage of the site both today and in the past. The aim is to create a defined yet minimalistic addition to the promenade skyline. Upon completion, the property’s seafront elevation will be crystal-like in appearance, thanks to a highly reflective skin changing appearance depending on weather conditions.
