Functional shade: Atelier Van Lieshout’s Statistocrat lamp for Moooi

Introducing the Statistocrat lamp, designed by Rotterdam-based design studio Atelier Van Lieshout for Dutch brand Moooi. Conceived as a 3D representation of drawings, schedules and statistics for a utopian city, the lamp consists of four shades staggered across a two-meter-long vertical bar, each with a different purpose. The tallest shade projects light towards the ceiling, the wider shade acts as a reading lamp, while the lowest shade functions as a side table lit by a smaller shade directly above. The Stratistocrat lamp is made from powder coated aluminum and is available in 25 different colors with hand dimmers for each shade.

Rotterdam-based design studio Atelier Van Lieshout was founded in 1995 by Joep van Lieshout.

Dutch design brand Moooi was founded in 2001 by Marcel Wangers and Casper Vissers.
