Hard Rock Hotel planned for western Mass.

Multiple outlets are reporting on the planned Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in the hills of western Massachusetts. Word is Hard Rock International and Paper City Development LLC are partnering to develop the hotel and casino on the 100-acre Wyckoff country Club in western Massachusetts.

"We are planning a state-of-the-art facility with a wide range of non-gaming amenities that will provide a world-class entertainment experience unique to the region," said Jim Allen, chairman of Hard Rock, in a statement.

USA Today reports that the proposed site is off Interstate 90, the main highway that leads to Boston (about 90 minutes away), where a Hard Rock Café sits near Faneuil Hall.

Citybiz Real Estate reports that the project is projected to generate more than $100 million in annual gaming taxes for the state.

The Boston Globe reports that Paper City Development controls the country club and had previously wanted to pursue a casino for the site. In April, it announced that, if successful, it would give back 2.5 percent of its net revenues to the city and neighboring communities.

Hard Rock operates 15 hotel-casinos around the world in addition to its music-themed cafes.
