HBA division caters to lower-budget projects in India and China

HBA StudioHong Kong--Global interior design firm HBA has set-up a specialised design division called ‘Studio’ based in Shanghai and New Delhi to focus on budget conscious owners and developers in China and India thirsty for stylish cutting-edge design and local accessibility.

Studio will work on a full range of projects from small to medium-sized hotels to resorts, private residences, show flats, stand alone restaurants, nightclubs and office lobbies purely in their domestic markets.

The New Delhi HBA Studio flagship has since completed stylish restaurant projects including pan-Asian restaurant Zazen, trendy kebab house Kekab Khan and European style bistro Cafe Amor. Nightclub bar Light House 13 is under construction and will open at the end of this year alongside Manre Lounge Bar and Restaurant. Zazen in Noida NCR (National Capital Region) and Kink a Night club in Noida NCR open early next month.

“The response in India has been phenomenal, the growth in design here combined with the sophistication of the market has meant that we are well placed to work on dynamic projects,” comments Rahul Shankhwalker, Design Director at Studio New Delhi.

Now the concept has extended to Shanghai, with the opening of a new warehouse-style studio at 800 Chende Lu.

The Shanghai studio is fully staffed and takes up 5000 square feet of new office space. But it is “growing fast, we have four China projects already signed, it is very exciting times,” said Allan Jenkins, Design Director at Studio Shanghai.

The early China projects are a mix of residential, clubhouse, show flats and a large restaurant-bar, in locations extending from Shanghai to Ningbo and Shenzhen.

HBA’s international network of offices and studios now extends from London, Hong Kong and Los Angeles to Atlanta, San Francisco, Brisbane and Melbourne in Australia, Dubai, New Delhi, Shanghai, Manila, Singapore and Tokyo, making them one of the most truly global and inspirational design firms around the world.
