Hotel Adagio transformed

Maryland-based Chesapeake Lodging Trust has announced that a multi-million dollar renovation is underway at the iconic Hotel Adagio San Francisco, located in Union Square. The transformation, which is slated for completion this July, includes a refurbishment of each of the property’s 171 guestrooms, penthouse suites and public spaces, expanded meeting and event space, as well as a newly-conceptualized restaurant and lobby-level bar.

The renovation includes a complete interior restyling of the hotel’s guestrooms and common areas using what was described as a “chic, modern design aesthetic, while maintaining the striking, historic Spanish Revival architecture embodied by the exterior façade”.

The vision, developed by Barbara Parker of Massachusetts-based design firm Parker Torres, features a textured backdrop comprised of warm coffee tones, and punctuated with pops of color – fresh green and deep grape in the Hotel Adagio’s guestrooms, and rich orange and cranberry in the public spaces. Furniture pieces, extensive woodwork and marble mosaics complete the design.

In addition to guestroom and public area redesign, the project includes a complete renovation and reconceptualization of the hotel’s onsite restaurant, as well as the existing Bar Adagio. Plans include the update of the current bar space, with a revamped cocktail menu, communal seating and regular musical entertainment.

The renovation also includes the creation of additional meeting space. The meeting space expansion, coupled with a redesign of the hotel’s penthouse level suites, will allow guests to buy out the entire 16th floor, which includes three guestrooms, two luxury suites, two meeting rooms with a wrap-around outdoor terrace featuring San Francisco views. With completion of the project, the property will feature more than 3,000 square feet of meeting space.

Located in San Francisco’s Union Square cultural district, the Hotel Adagio combines Spanish Colonial Revival architecture with a clean and contemporary design aesthetic. Amenities include 171 guestrooms, three penthouse-level suites, 3,000 square feet of meeting and event space, lobby-level bar and restaurant. Hotel Adagio, managed by Southern California-based Evolution Hospitality, is located at 550 Geary Street in San Francisco, California.
