Houston Marriott West Loop by The Galleria undergoes renovation

The Houston Marriott West Loop by The Galleria embarked on a multi-million dollar renovation to all of its public spaces to create an upscale atmosphere that matches the city's attractions and scenes.

As the largest project in the West Houston hotel's 38-year history, the two-phase venture will include floor-to-ceiling revitalization of the lobby, front desk, food and beverage outlets and meeting and event spaces. The first phase of the Galleria Houston hotel's renovation started in June 2014 , revitalizing the lounge, portions of the lobby and main restaurant, business center, Sapphire Room, main stairwell and porte-cochere.

Since September, the River Oaks hotel pursued the second phase of the re-imagination that includes the front desk, front office, main restaurant, breakfast buffet, lobby restrooms and remaining portions of the lobby. The Galleria Houston hotel's entire renovation is scheduled for completion at the end of 2014.

Post COVID-19: The New Guest Experience

Join Hotel Management’s Elaine Simon for our latest roundtable—Post COVID-19: The New Guest Experience. The experts on the panel will share how to inspire guest confidence that hotels are safe and clean and how to win back guest business.

A large part of the Galleria Houston hotel's renovation will be dedicated toward repurposing current space to create a new experience for entertaining guests. Portions of the existing lobby, meeting space, business center and lounge will be reinvented into a three-meal Greatroom. A stairwell will descend through the middle of the new bar and lounge, leading guests to and from the Glass Palace. The existing restaurant will then be transformed into a new meeting space.

All current ceiling areas will be raised four feet to six feet. Additional enhancements will include floor foundation re-surfacing and the replacement of carpet and floor tiles.

The Houston Marriott West Loop by The Galleria at 1750 West Loop South in Houston, Texas, is near the Houston Galleria and Uptown Park. The West Houston hotel is also near Rice University. With 13 floors, the hotel has 299 rooms, two suites and 18 meeting rooms with 17,000 square feet of flexible event space. Additional amenities include an indoor atrium pool, expanded fitness center and on-site dining.
