Hyatt Hotels Corporation opened the Hyatt Regency Chongming, located on Chongming Island in Shanghai, China. The hotel introduces the Hyatt Regency brand to Shanghai and the first international upscale resort to the island.
Located at the mouth of the Yangtze River and the East China Sea, Chongming Island is the world's largest alluvial river island. Sparsely developed and dotted with organic farms, rural villages, national parks and wetlands, it is a retreat destination for Shanghai urban dwellers. The island is linked to the mainland by a tunnel and bridge, and is a 90-minute drive from downtown Shanghai.
Hyatt Regency Chongming is set in a natural environment beside the Dongtan Wetlands Park and a migratory bird reserve. The resort's five buildings are connected by a covered Chinese-style walkway, and gardens are landscaped with flowers, streams and arched bridges.
Hyatt Regency Chongming has 235 guestrooms, including 21 suites, with complimentary Wi-Fi Internet access and mini bar. Guestrooms are equipped with technology, such as 42-inch TVs and MP3 player docking stations, and feature private balconies or courtyards looking out to ocean or garden views.
The Regency Club is housed in an exclusive building and Regency Club guests have access to the Regency Club Lounge, plus use of the boardroom and outdoor terrace.
Hyatt Regency Chongming is also the first Hyatt hotel in China to introduce a pet-friendly program, with 25 dog-friendly rooms complete with enclosed outdoor courtyards.
Hyatt Regency Chongming's five restaurants and lounges include: Chinese restaurant Pin Yue; the Tea House; Market Café that offers Chinese buffet complemented by international flavors; and the Italian restaurant Bistro.
Hyatt Regency Chongming is the first to introduce a new meetings and events concept by Hyatt – The Campus – to Greater China. Styled to evoke the nostalgia of university life, The Campus spans more than 15,000 square feet on the ground floor, and it comprises a lecture hall, three classrooms, a social and dining space called the Cafeteria, and six Song & Games Rooms.
The hotel also has a 6,700-square-foot Regency Ballroom opening out to a walled garden, five classically styled salons and boardrooms, plus a Regency Lawn catering to larger alfresco events and romantic garden weddings.
Club Oasis at Hyatt Regency Chongming includes a 82-foot indoor swimming pool, fitness center with Technogym equipment, and indoor/outdoor children's play areas.
