IHG opens new Holiday Inn in Salt Lake City

IHG has opened the Holiday Inn Express Salt Lake City South – Midvale in the Salt Lake Valley area.

Located in a suburb close to Interstate 15 and Interstate 215, the former Comfort Suites recently underwent a $400,000 renovation that included upgrades to the 66 guest rooms, all of which feature living areas separated from sleeping areas by a partial divider.

The renovation of the three-story hotel is in keeping with the $1 billion Holiday Inn relaunch, first announced in 2007. The relaunch program creates a more contemporary brand image as part of the drive to increase quality and consistency across the global portfolio, focusing on arrival and welcome services, as well as guest-room and guest bath comfort.

Centrally located in the foothills of the majestic Wasatch Mountains, the Holiday Inn Express Salt Lake City South – Midvale is not far from several world-class ski resorts, including Snowbird, Alta, Solitude and Brighton Ski Resorts, and mountains offering a variety of outdoor activities.  Leisure travelers can enjoy nearby attractions, including the Hogle Zoo, Temple Square, the Lagoon Amusement Park, as well as Jungle Jim’s Playland, all just a short distance away.

For business travelers, the new Holiday Inn Express is just a short distance from the Intermountain Medical Center, South Towne Exposition Center and the LDS Conference Center. The 42,000-square-foot hotel is 100 percent smoke-free and features a variety of amenities, including an indoor heated pool, whirlpool, fitness center and 24-hour business center.

The hotel also offers complimentary high-speed, wireless Internet access. All rooms include a living area with a sofa bed and a large desk with an ergonomic chair.  Guest rooms include 35” flat-screen televisions, comfortable queen or king-sized beds and the SimplySmart bedding collection where guests will find new, crisp bedding, a decorative throw, a medium-weight duvet blanket and soft 200 thread-count sheets.

The SimplySmart shower incorporates a proprietary Stay Smart Kohler showerhead and a signature shower curtain with curved rod. The sitting area includes a lounge chair and an in-room coffee machine featuring complimentary Smart Roast 100% Arabica coffee.  Guests can enjoy free local and toll free (U.S. only) calls, phones with private voicemail and complimentary USA TODAY newspapers.
