Al Derea named J/Brice Design Internationa to design a new luxury Hyatt Hotel in Jeddah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA). The new property, scheduled to open in the fourth-quarter of 2015, will become the second Hyatt Hotel in Jeddah.
In making the announcement, Al Derea noted that the 320-guestroom hotel was designed by Quantum AIP Architects. The 12-story property has a two-story, all-glass façade that creates a play of light on the exterior that is in concert with the hues of the setting sun.
The J/Brice Design International appointment follows on the heels of two other projects in KSA where this Boston-based design firm is playing a role in the branding of the Middle East. Earlier, the Fakieh Group retained J/Brice to design restaurants at the Sea Wonders Aquarium. J/Brice also designed the soon-to-open and first Kempinski Hotel in KSA, as well as private villas for Saudi Sheikhs. In addition to the Saudi Kingdom, other projects include The Grand Heritage Hotel and Spa, designed for the Royal Family of Qatar, and in a recent expansion to North Africa, The Royal Tulip in Alexandria, Egypt.
Founded in 1989 by Jeffrey-Brice Ornstein, J/Brice Design International is a global design firm, having directed projects in excess of $5 billion since its founding. The firm's most recent signature engagements worldwide include the HMS Queen Mary, a 1934 luxury ocean liner; the urban landmark The Helmsley Hotel in New York City; The Grand Heritage Hotel and Spa in Qatar’s Aspire Zone; and Royal Tulip Alexandria in Alexandria, Egypt.
J/Brice Design is a preferred design group for Hilton Hotels. International credentials include work for TAJ Hotels, Kempinski, Royal Tulip, and boutique properties in Dubai, UAE, Qatar and KSA.
