Kimpton acquires Sedona, Ariz., property

Kimpton Hotels & Resorts has acquired the Amara Resort & Spa in Sedona, Ariz., for an undisclosed price. The 100-room resort is Kimpton's third property in Arizona and 59th overall in its portfolio.

As part of the acquisition, a multimillion-dollar renovation is planned for the property, which will include new room furnishings, a redo of the property’s restaurant and a makeover of the hotel entrance and lobby, the San Francisco Business Times reports—adding already to a $2-million renovation that was completed last fall.

"We’re proud to add the Amara Resort and Spa to our collection," said Kimpton CEO Mike Depatie. "We saw an opportunity to expand to Sedona, an area that’s a very desirable resort destination for travelers for its ideal weather, stunning views and serene environment."
