Loews Coronado Bay Resort announced plans for a redesign of its lobby, Bay Terrace, Cays Lounge, Market Café and Market-to-Go. The nine-month transformation will complement the resort’s recent meeting space, corridor and guestroom bathroom renovations for a total investment of $12 million over the last three years.
San Diego’s bay is central to the theme and one of the first things guests will see when entering the new lobby, which featuers a two-story chandelier of suspended glass spheres and freshly-painted walls in blues, grays and natural.
Beyond the resort’s grand staircase, a new floating bar will anchor the space, offering views of the San Diego skyline and Coronado Bay. A media wall with nine LCD flat-screen televisions will broadcast sporting events, while communal-style bar tables will also be installed. Outside on the Bay Terrace, oversized teak sofas will be added around fire pits.
The second phase of Loews Coronado Bay Resort’s renovation will begin in the fall. The resort’s Market Café will receive a new entrance, banquettes, buffet and nautical-inspired accessories. The adjacent Market To Go will offer an outlet for gourmet snack on the go.
Loews Coronado Bay Resort’s complete transformation is slated for completion on Dec. 1, 2012.
