Eden Roc at Cap Cana, a property by Solaya Hotels & Resorts, opened. Located in the Punta Cana area on the eastern tip of the Dominican Republic, Eden Roc at Cap Cana is an enclave reminiscent of the French and Italian Rivieras.
Envisioned by Milan-based designer Marina Nova, in collaboration with Dominican architect Franc Ortega, Eden Roc at Cap Cana was fashioned more after a luxe village than a traditional resort. The resort’s design celebrates the aesthetics of the 1960s French and Italian Rivieras, while also being both respective and reflective of its Caribbean setting. Blending European influence and Caribbean sprit, each suite is drenched in bright colors such as cerise, golden yellow, azure, plum and lime green, providing a contrast to the soothing cream and eggshell palate of the interior spaces. The coral stone and hand-painted tile flooring complement these colors. Two specialty suites to note include the Black Horse and Golden Shell.
The property encompasses 34 suites and boasts such amenities as six dining venues created by executive chef Gianluca Re Fraschini, a full service spa, Caletón Beach Club, Koko Kids Club and access to the Punta Espada golf course.
The resort is surrounded by greenery and panoramas, while each suite’s decks serve as a natural extension of the airy spaces. There are views of gardens and lagoon-style pools. Each suite boasts private swimming pools and massage/relaxation areas, and is equipped with Bose audio systems and iPads that have apps to control the lighting, sound system, air-conditioning and even the mini bar. iPads also allow guests to interact with the front desk staff.
Under the direction of executive chef Gianluca Re Fraschini, Eden Roc at Cap Cana’s six dining establishments feature a variety of haute cuisine. One venue, Mediterraneo, melds French and Italian cuisine with a view overlooking the lagoon. Another is Gastronomico, which only seats 20 guests and offers flavors from around the world. Located at the Caletón Beach Club is La Palapa by Eden Roc, featuring seafood. For a more casual environment, the Blue Lagoon Pool-Bar & Restaurant presents light fare and deli favorites. La Cava, offering a domed roof made of bricks, is a gathering spot that looks like a cellar in a historic hacienda but has been redesigned for wine connoisseur. Finally Riva Bar, inspired by the Riva Aquarama pleasure boat that was the symbol of glamour in 1960s Monte Carlo, is Eden Roc at Cap Cana's vintage bar locale.
The property also features the Solaya Spa. Featuring 753 square feet of meeting and event space, Eden Roc at Cap Cana also features various multi-purpose spaces for destination weddings and corporate functions. Finally, the Koko Kid’s Club is available, with its headquarters sitting in a tree house equipped with video games, a mini-dining area, and even a mini-spa, among others.
