With a total investment of $200 billion, both hotels will open to the public in the second quarter of 2015. It will be the first golf hotel management project operated by Marriott International in the Greater China region.
The Ritz-Carlton will offer 180 rooms and 20 villas, whereas The Renaissance will have over 300 keys. According to Dr. Ken Chu, chairman and CEO of Mission Hills Group, the developments will be icing on Mission Hills' Haikou development of a township of 300 shops and Hainan's first ever real ice skating.
Hainan is said to represent a massive growth market for the hotel industry, and it's a market which Marriott International is very keen on.
The new Ritz-Carlton hotel is designed by AECOM, a Fortune 500 design and engineering company, and HBA, one of the top interior design consultants. It will feature traditional Oriental design blended with contemporary living in an intimate setting. The design will offer guests a completely new golf vacation destination.
The Renaissance hotel will be surrounded by green space and trees, thereby creating a natural harmony with the environment. It will also incorporate the latest sustainable technology to provide guests with leisure facilities.
