Langham Place, New York, Fifth Avenue will debut a brand new look before the end of 2015. Designed by Meyer Davis, a boutique design firm, the renovation will transform the lobby; the corresponding bar and lobby lounge, Measure; the event and meeting space on the hotel’s third floor; the guest rooms and corridors; and The Spa at Langham Place into Chuan Body & Soul. The entire renovation will be capped off by the addition of a $2 million art collection by Alex Katz.
The renovation will be completed in stages, commencing this June and will be finishing by the end of the year.
A lounge will be added to the existing lobby. This area, located beneath the “Falling White” sculpture under the staircase that leads to Ai Fiori, an Altamarea Group restaurant, will include an expanded seating area, and will blend into the newly renovated Measure Lounge.
There will also be an updated destination bar. Measure Lounge will be opened up, with a more expansive entrance, allowing for easier flow between the lobby and the lounge itself.
The newly redesigned event space on the hotel’s third floor will incorporate flexible floor plans and expansive windows, allowing for a wider variety of meeting and event options, and expanding the current 3,800 square feet of meeting space to 7,600 square feet.
The reinterpretation of The Spa at Langham Place into Chuan Body & Soul, the proprietary spa concept created by Langham Hospitality Group and the only spa brand in the world based on the tenets of Traditional Chinese Medicine, will be reflected not only in a menu of new treatments but also in the décor through the inclusion of a Moon Gate, the brand’s signature entrance, among other features.
Also, to be installed is a new $2 million art collection, with 11 original works by Alex Katz in the lobby and the third floor event space, as well as 229 reprints of 15 additional original works, which will be added to the guest rooms, suites and hallway corridors.
In addition to the installation of the Alex Katz art collection to the guest rooms, suites and corridors, the accommodations at Langham Place will receive an update, with new chairs, carpet, drapes and lighting.
Langham Place, New York is located at 400 Fifth Avenue, at the intersection of Fifth Avenue and 36th Street. In addition to a full-service spa, the hotel also has a fitness center and the only midtown outpost of Julien Farel Salon.
