Onyx expands Amari, Ozo hotel brands in Asia

Onyx Hospitality Group is stepping up its expansion with the openings of Amari and Ozo branded hotels in China, India, Hong Kong, Sri Lanka and Qatar within the next three years.

According to the group’s president and CEO, Peter Henley, the year 2012 represents an important year for Onyx with the openings of three Amari hotels while 2013 would mark the beginning of its Ozo-branded properties. This year, the group opened Oriental Residence Bangkok in January and Amari Hua Hin in August. It has scheduled to open its first hotel in the Middle East, Amari Doha in Qatar this October.

The company will launch its Ozo-branded properties with the opening of Ozo Wesley Hong Kong and Ozo Chaweng Samui next year. Three more Ozo branded hotels are currently under developments in Sri Lanka – in Colombo, Kandy and Galle.

Also next year, the group will open its first hotel in India, Amari Ludhiana in Punjab, as well as strengthen Shama’s presence in China with the opening of Shama HEDA Hangzhou.

Onyx's expansion came in response to the group’s 2010 statement to become one of Asia’s leading hospitality providers by 2018 with 51 operating properties. It will have 34 operational properties by the end of this year.
