Play of shadow and light: Ripple light by Poetic Lab for Lobmeyr

Introducing the Ripple light by London-based design studio Poetic Lab for Lobmeyr. The unevenly shaped glass diffuser of Poetic Lab’s Ripple light creates a play of shadow and light on the surrounding walls. Set in a brass base with a rotating motor, the halogen light source is encased within a small mouth-blown glass diffuser that is in turn housed within a larger one. The uneven, layered glass throws out patterns onto the surrounding walls. Ripple light is available in two sizes.

Founded in 1823, J. & L. Lobmeyr is a glassware company from Vienna, Austria. Founder Josef Lobmeyr was the exclusive supplier to the Imperial court. His successor, Stefan Rath, looked to the Wiener Werkstätte architects and artists for further inspiration in developing more progressive designs for service sets, decorative figures and glass chandeliers. Today the company remains a family owned business.
